English/Español: Rubio on Honduras’ Decision to Establish Relations With the Chinese Communist Party
Yesterday, Honduran President Xiomara Castro de Zelaya announced she would establish relations with the genocidal Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a statement criticizing this decision:
- “On President Biden’s watch, far left governments in our region are running to a criminal and genocidal Chinese regime. When people across our hemisphere are dealing with real problems, like gang violence, narcoterrorism, systemic corruption, and skyrocketing costs, Honduras’s President is bending to the demands of the CCP. It is a shame that some countries in our region continue to buy into the lies of an authoritarian regime at the expense of their own sovereignty and security. This is further evidence that the U.S. has to remain engaged in the region more than ever and not allow the CCP, along with its partners in Moscow and Tehran, to gain a foothold and further influence Latin American governments as they undermine security, democratic order, and prosperity in our own hemisphere.”
