Rubio: Ensure Transparency for Performance at State Department

The U.S. State Department issues Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) to staff who are not meeting job expectations, and can be used as a first step in employment termination. Currently, those PIP’s are not provided to review panels when the State Department considers tenure or promotions.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced the Mandatory Review of Performance Improvement Plans at State to require those PIPs issued in the past five years to be provided to panels ahead of tenure or promotions.
