ICYMI: Rubio Joins Fox and Friends
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) joined Fox and Friends to discuss the threat of terrorists crossing the southern border and his bill to stop federal funding for pro-terrorist activities on college campuses. See below for highlights and watch the full interview on YouTube and Rumble.
On Latin American governments facilitating illegal migration:
“It’s very frustrating, because our intelligence agencies and our government know that there are governments in the region actively pushing people in this direction. For example, Nicaragua has monetized it. You can travel to Nicaragua without a visa, so people fly in from Cuba, from Haiti, from other places, and they’re facilitating the route. We know that the leftist president of Colombia is actively pushing Venezuelan migrants to leave Colombia, pushing them towards the United States. We know that governments up and down the region are doing that.”
On terrorists entering America through the southern border:
“We know for a fact that there are trafficking networks with links to terrorism that are in the business of moving and trafficking people for money. It’s how they raise money for terrorism. It’s logical to conclude that if that’s their business to make money, [they are helping terrorists]…. It would easily translate to them helping terrorists get into the country as well. It is a calamity.
“[The Biden Administration is] turning America into a refugee camp, and it has to stop. [Illegal immigration at the southern border] is a mass migration event bordering on an invasion…. Biden is encouraging and allowing it. And now he wants billions of dollars more to make the process move even faster.”
On mass migration at the southern border:
“No country in the world would tolerate this. Right now, in the Middle East, in the middle of a war, Egypt has said, ‘We stand with the Palestinian people,’ but not a single one of them is coming in. Not a single refugee is going to live in the Sinai. They have sent military tanks, they’ve sent weaponry, to block Palestinians from entering the Sinai. Jordan has said the same thing, and they’re not allowing refugees.
“No country in the world allows mass migration, except for Western countries like some in Europe that now regret it and, increasingly, the United States. This is not an immigration issue, but a mass migration. It is chaos, and it is uncontrolled. Of course, [the migrants] are winding up in cities. They have to live somewhere.
“I made [this] point the other night. Last year, [there were about] 900,000 people confronted at the border and released into the United States. If just one tenth of one percent of those people are terrorists, that’s 900 terrorists. You only need a few terrorists to do a lot of damage. Imagine 900 of them. And that’s just in one year.
“The Biden Administration is not just allowing this. They are encouraging it through their behavior. The reason why they don’t stand up to it is because if they do, they have the radical left wing of their party that will rebel and revolt, people that believe that anyone who wants to come here should be allowed to come here, no matter how they come here, and be allowed to stay forever. This is a radical view, but it basically dictates their policy.”
On Rubio’s bill to stop federal funding of terrorist activities on college campuses:
“What this bill does is it says no federal dollars, and there are billions of federal dollars that go to institutes of higher learning in this country, no federal dollars can be used to promote or support events designed to further the work or support the work of a Foreign Terrorist Organization, as designated by the Department of State, which includes Hamas, Hezbollah, and others.
“It also says if you are a supporter of these groups, or if you’re advocating that others support these groups or their aims and goals, it is an automatic disqualifier for federal financial aid. If you’re a student, you’re on financial aid, and you’re out there supporting Hamas, supporting Hezbollah, calling for the eradication of Jews, driving them out of the Middle East, it becomes an automatic disqualifier for federal financial aid.
“You have a right to those opinions if you’re an American. You don’t have a right to federal financial aid, and you don’t have a right to have us pay for you to go to school and harass Jewish students and support anti-American, anti-Semitic terrorist organizations as designated by the Department of State…. Our universities have become dens of terrorist support.”
