VIDEO: Rubio Celebrates National School Choice Week

Jan 23, 2018 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following video statement today celebrating National School Choice Week:

Text of the statement is below. A downloadable broadcast quality version is available here.

“Hello, I’m Marco Rubio, and it’s an honor to serve the people of Florida here in the United States Senate. This week, millions of people across the country will be celebrating National School Choice Week. This includes students and teachers at more than 20,000 schools, more than 5,000 homeschooling groups, and millions of parents and community leaders. National School Choice Week is a time to celebrate the array of quality educational options available to children in this great country – from public charter schools to traditional public school; from public magnet programs to private schools; and online learning to homeschooling.

“I support school choice and the right of every parent to choose the school that is best for their needs, and for the needs of their child. Our students’ potential should not be limited by the zip code their family can afford to live in, and it should not be limited by their socioeconomic background.

“Therefore, I will continue to push for reform that expands school choice and opportunities in education, and that levels the playing field for all children throughout Florida and throughout America. Thank you to all those who advance this important cause for our children and for the future of our country. May God bless your work, may God bless all of you, may God bless the great state of Florida, and may God always bless the United States of America.”
