THURSDAY: Rubio, Smith Unveil China Commission’s 2017 Report

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, October 5, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and U.S. Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ), the chair and cochair of the bipartisan Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC), respectively, will unveil the findings and recommendations of the CECC’s 2017 Annual Report at a press conference. Family members of Chinese political prisoners will be in attendance.

The chairs will also announce joint initiatives on Hong Kong and efforts to commemorate late Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and famed Chinese political prisoner Liu Xiaobo. The report’s release comes ahead of President Trump’s upcoming visit to Beijing and on the eve of the 19th Party Congress in China.
