Senator Rubio Welcomes NASA Announcement
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement regarding NASA’s announcement that it has selected three American companies to develop the next phase of human spaceflight capabilities, which will facilitate the launch of astronauts from U.S. soil within five years:
“The current situation of relying on other countries to send Americans to space is unacceptable, but today’s announcement is an important step to make sure the U.S. once again leads the way in space exploration. This is great news for Florida, given the three companies’ commitments to doing work on the Space Coast where a highly skilled workforce already exists. I congratulate Boeing, SpaceX and Sierra Nevada, and I look forward to working with them to help reestablish America’s human spaceflight capabilities and usher in a new era of innovation and accomplishments.”
