Senator Rubio Earns “Guardian Of Small Business” Award
Washington, D.C. – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business association, announced this week that U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has earned its prestigious Guardian of Small Business Award. This award was established to recognize public servants who have done exceptional work to promote and protect the rights of America’s small business owners to freely operate and grow their businesses. Rubio earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the NFIB’s congressional scorecard, which included votes to repeal ObamaCare and to enact the Tax Hike Prevention Amendment, among other bills.
Following this announcement, Rubio said, “I am honored by this award and humbled to be recognized by such an outstanding organization as the NFIB. I came to Washington knowing that small businesses are the heart and soul of America’s prosperous free enterprise system and a critical force for upward mobility. Members of Congress have a duty to make it easier for innovative Americans to start or grow a business, and it has been an honor to defend small businesses against policies that punish success. I continue to be grateful to the NFIB for being a loyal ally to small business owners and, by extension, the American free enterprise system.”
John G. Doble, owner of the Tampa Bay Brewing Company and a member of the NFIB, said, “Two years ago, when Marco came to my restaurant to receive the NFIB’s support, he looked me and my fellow business owners in the eye and promised to go to Washington and fight to protect the rights of small business owners like us who want to own and operate our businesses free from the weight of over-regulation and high taxes. I am extremely pleased with his work, and I am grateful that he has been a man of his word. Throughout his time in the U.S. Senate, Marco has been a valuable friend to all small business owners, and he has made Floridians and small business owners around the country proud to have offered our endorsement during his Senate campaign.”
This week, Rubio earned FreedomWorks’ 2011 Freedom Fighter Award for his strong conservative record in Congress. In 2011, Rubio also earned the “Defender Of Economic Freedom” award from the Club For Growth, an “A+” rating from Americans for Prosperity, and he has the second highest rating in the Senate on the Heritage Action For America Scorecard.
