Senator Rubio Comments On Shrinking U.S. Economy

Jan 30, 2013 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio issued the following statement regarding today’s Commerce Department report that the U.S. economy shrank in the last quarter of 2012 for the first time since the recession ended:

“While Washington spent the end of 2012 focused on avoiding a ‘fiscal cliff’ disaster of its own making, the real disaster was happening in the real world of President Obama’s economy.  The gross domestic product is not just a number for economists to care about.  It tells us President Obama’s policies are failing miserably and that we need a fundamental shift towards policies that will truly get our economy growing.  The President and his allies need to give up their obsession with raising taxes and join Republicans in pursuing real economic growth policies through tax, regulatory and energy reform.”
