Senator Marco Rubio Announces Committee Assignments
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today announced his four committee assignments for the 113th Congress. For the second consecutive Congress, Rubio will serve on the Committee on Foreign Relations, the Select Committee on Intelligence, the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and the Small Business Committee.
In making this announcement, Rubio issued the following statement:
“I’m honored to continue my service on the Foreign Relations, Intelligence, Commerce and Small Business Committees for the 113th Congress. As many of our nation’s most pressing issues fall under the purview of these committees, I’m confident my assignments will allow me to work actively and productively for the people of Florida.
“I’ll be honored to continue my work on the Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committees, where I’ve already had many valuable experiences in my first two years in the Senate. I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the world to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, GITMO, Haiti, Colombia, Spain and Germany to represent our government and see first-hand the important work being done by American men and women overseas. In the coming Congress, I intend to remain closely involved in the duties of the Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committees, including the advancement of America’s interests around the globe and the careful oversight of these vital government functions.
“I’ve also greatly valued my experiences on the Commerce Committee, including my continuing work on several issues of great interest to Floridians, such as policies affecting NASA and Florida’s space coast, trade with our hemispheric neighbors, and oversight of our important fishing industry. Through my work on the Small Business Committee, I’ve been privileged to work side-by-side with many business leaders throughout Florida and across the nation. Small businesses play an integral role in the growth of our nation’s economy, creating the majority of new middle-class jobs and representing the best of the American Dream. I am excited to carry on my work on this important committee so that we can continue to be the most inviting nation in the world for those wishing to start a business.
“Through my continued efforts on these four vitally important committees, I am confident that I can represent the people of Florida well and contribute to the growth, security and economic prosperity of our nation.”
