Senate Intel Committee Approves Burns Nomination
Washington, D.C. — Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Vice Chairman Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement after the Committee favorably reported out the nomination of Ambassador William Burns to be Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
“The role of the CIA Director is without parallel in American government,” Rubio said. “While our nation faces a wide array of challenges, none is more comprehensive than the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party. After meeting with Ambassador Burns, I believe he understands the nature of the Chinese threat and the others facing our nation. America’s leaders must actively confront and frustrate the ambitions of the Chinese Communist Party, not just be orderly caretakers of America’s decline.”
