Rubio Welcomes Sgt. Tahmooressi’s Release From Mexican Prison
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement regarding tonight’s announcement that Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, a Florida native, is being released from a Mexican prison:
“Sgt. Tahmooressi served our nation honorably in the Marines, and it’s unacceptable that the Mexican and U.S. governments allowed him to languish in a Mexican prison for so long. It’s been a long ordeal for Sgt. Tahmooressi and his family, but I’m relieved that he is finally being freed and that their nightmare is coming to an end.
“My office met with Sgt. Tahmooressi’s mother in Florida earlier this year and had been in contact with the family since his arrest. It’s been our honor to work on his and his family’s behalf to help bring him home. Tonight, I join Andrew’s family and friends in looking forward to his return home.”
