Rubio Welcomes Sanctions Against Thugs of Maduro’s Regime
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), pursuant to Executive Order 13884, imposed sanctions against five officials of the Maduro regime who were previously sanctioned by the European Union (EU) or Canada.
Today’s sanctions target Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, an Admiral in the Venezuelan Navy and Commander of the Strategic Operational Command of the National Armed Forces (CEOFANB), Nestor Neptali Blanco Hurtado, a Major in the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), Jose Adelino Ornelas Ferreira, Secretary General of the National Defense Council (Secretario General del Consejo de Defensa de la Nación), Pedro Miguel Carreno Escobar, Deputy of the illegitimate Venezuelan National Constituent Assembly (ANC), and Carlos Alberto Calderon Chirinos, a senior official in Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (SEBIN).
“It’s important for the United States to continue imposing maximum pressure with our international allies against members of the illegitimate Maduro regime and work together to advance democratic values in our hemisphere. As dictator Nicolás Maduro and members of his narcoterrorist regime attempt to maintain their grip on power, the United States continues to stand firmly with the Venezuelan people in defense of their quest for freedom and restoration of democratic order.”
Rubio is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.
RUBIO CELEBRA SANCIONES CONTRA SECUACES DEL RÉGIMEN DE MADURO
Washington, D.C.— El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) emitió una declaración después que la Oficina de Control de Activos Extranjeros (OFAC) del Departamento del Tesoro de los Estados Unidos, en conformidad con la Orden Ejecutiva 13884, impuso sanciones contra cinco funcionarios del régimen de Maduro y quienes fueron previamente sancionados por la Unión Europea (UE) o Canadá.
Las sanciones de hoy están dirigidas a Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, almirante de la Armada venezolana y comandante del Comando Estratégico Operativo de las Fuerzas Armadas Nacionales (CEOFANB), Néstor Neptali Blanco Hurtado, comandante de la Guardia Nacional Bolivariana (GNB), José Adelino Ornelas Ferreira, Secretario General del Consejo de Defensa de la Nación, Pedro Miguel Carreño Escobar, Diputado de la ilegítima Asamblea Nacional Constituyente Venezolana (ANC), y Carlos Alberto Calderón Chirinos, alto funcionario del Servicio Bolivariano de Inteligencia Nacional (SEBIN).
“Es importante para los Estados Unidos el continuar imponiendo máxima presión, junto a nuestros aliados internacionales, contra los miembros del régimen ilegítimo de Maduro y trabajar juntos para promover los valores democráticos en nuestro hemisferio. Mientras el dictador Nicolás Maduro y los miembros de su régimen narcoterrorista intentan mantenerse en el poder, los Estados Unidos continúa apoyando firmemente al pueblo venezolano en su lucha por la defensa de la libertad y restauración del orden democrático en su país”.
Rubio es el presidente del Subcomité de Relaciones Exteriores para el Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Globales de la Mujer.
