Rubio: “We Cannot Allow China to Get Its Hands on Advanced AI Chips.”
U.S. officials are reportedly considering tightening export controls on semiconductors that can be used to develop Artificial Intelligence, which would affect chip companies like Intel, Nvidia, and Qualcomm. These companies’ CEOs met with Biden Administration officials earlier this week to lobby against these sensible controls and preserve their business with China.
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a statement on these CEOs’ lobbying efforts.
“The heads of Intel, Nvidia, and Qualcomm are putting profits ahead of national security. These CEOs are lobbying against export controls designed to keep the Chinese Communist Party away from AI technology. China is growing stronger by the day, aided by American capital and chips. We cannot allow China to get its hands on advanced AI chips. I urge the Biden Administration and my congressional colleagues to stand firm and not give in to these CEOs’ last-minute lobbying.” – Senator Rubio
