Rubio Votes Against Easing Tariffs on Chinese Goods
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a statement after voting against reducing tariffs on certain Chinese-made products.
“It makes absolutely no sense to make it cheaper for Chinese companies to sell their products in America,” Rubio said. “We need to rebuild American industry, not reward companies that keep their supply chains in China.”
The Motion to Instruct Conferees offered by Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) instructs conferees to retain provisions in Section 73001 of the Senate version of H.R. 4521, which reduce tariffs on certain products made in China. Last year, Rubio was joined by Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in opposing a similar amendment.
