Rubio Tours Tampa Small Business, Meets with Constituents, and Takes Questions from Media

Apr 5, 2021 | Press Releases

Tampa, FL — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) toured Fresco Foods, Inc., a family-owned small business in Tampa, FL that started creating healthy prepackaged meals in 2014. Rubio named Fresco Foods the U.S. Senate Small Business of the Week in September 2020. Even during the worst of the pandemic, Fresco was able to keep all 120 of their employees paid because they obtained a forgivable Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan. Following his visit, Rubio held a bilingual media availability with local press. After touring Fresco Foods, Rubio met with constituents and business leaders in Ybor City.

Rubio, the former Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, was author of the historic Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which provided small businesses with forgivable loans to keep their doors open and employees paid amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In Florida alone, more than 430,000 small businesses received forgivable PPP loans, saving more than 3 million jobs.
