Rubio Tells Constituents “Right To Refuse” Constitutional Amendment Is Needed Alternative To ObamaCare

Jun 14, 2013 | Press Releases

Rubio: “ObamaCare is going to be a disaster for America and when that happens, people are going to be looking for an alternative and through this constitutional amendment we’re going to give them one.”

Washington, D.C. – Last week, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) proposed “Right to Refuse,” an amendment to the U.S. Constitution providing that “Congress shall make no law that imposes a tax on a failure to purchase goods or services.” In today’s installment of Marco’s Constituent Mailbox video series, Rubio responds to two letters regarding the “Right To Refuse” and the disastrous implications ObamaCare’s implementation will have on the American people and our economy.

In his response to letters questioning the purpose of this amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Rubio explained, “I think ObamaCare isn’t going to be a problem for America, I think ObamaCare is going to be a disaster for America and when that happens, people are going to be looking for an alternative and through this constitutional amendment we’re going to give them one. That’s why I spent time on it and that’s why I will continue to spend time on it. Because I believe ObamaCare is bad for America and I believe ultimately it’s bad for Americans and all of our people who are going to have to comply with a program that quite frankly can never and will never work and may even contribute to bankrupting our country.”
