Rubio: Skyrocketing Premiums Show Obamacare is Unaffordable and Unsalvageable
Miami, FL – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement today regarding the Obama Administration’s admission that ObamaCare premiums will increase by 25 percent next year:
“Since it became law, ObamaCare has been hurting families in Florida. Patients have lost health plans and doctors they liked, seniors have seen their Medicare raided, workers have been laid off, and families have paid more in taxes only to be confronted by double-digit increases in their premiums. ObamaCare has led to yet another instance of American citizens in Puerto Rico being treated unequally by Washington policies, to their detriment. On top of that, the Obama Administration may try to go around the law and use billions of taxpayer dollars to bail out insurance companies losing money because of ObamaCare.
“A law that leads to 25 percent premium increases just as its namesake is leaving office is unsalvageable. There is a better way, and we must come together as a country and find real solutions that provide better care, more choices, and lower costs to consumers. Instead, Democrats in Congress keep marching in lockstep, defending this unaffordable system, and saying we need more of the same failed policies.”
