Rubio Praises Committee Passage of Bill to Cut Off Funding for Palestinian Terrorism

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) praised the Senate Foreign Relation Committee’s passage of the Taylor Force Act (S. 474) by a vote of 17 to 4 today. Cosponsored by Rubio, the bill would ‎cut U.S. foreign assistance to the Palestinian Authority until it stops making payments to the families of terrorists who attack Israelis and Americans. The legislation is named after Taylor Force, a U.S. Army veteran who was murdered in Tel Aviv by a Palestinian terrorist. The Palestinian Authority later rewarded the terrorist’s family with a monthly stipend.

“The Taylor Force Act’s strong, bipartisan support in committee sends a powerful message that the United States should hold the Palestinian Authority accountable for any payments to terrorists who engage in terrorism or violence against Israelis or Americans, or any payments to the families of terrorists,” said Rubio. “‎The Palestinian Authority’s pay-for-slay program for terrorists is an outrage, and this bill will help bring an end this abhorrent practice.”

In May, Rubio and others urged President Trump to press Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on ending rewards for terrorism.
