Rubio Joins Cruz, Colleagues in Introducing Resolution Approving Sales of Defense Equipment to Israel
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) joined Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and others in introducing a resolution in support of the United States’ sale of defensive equipment to Israel. This resolution is a statement of support for our nation’s partner and ally, Israel, which was bombarded by violent attacks from Hamas. When the Biden Administration notified Congress of these sales on May 5, 2021, Congressional Democrats quickly voiced their disapproval of this support for Israel – even as Israel needs this equipment to defend itself from Iran-backed Palestinian terrorist attacks.
Rubio also led 43 of his colleagues in a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to stand with Israel and stop negotiating to offer potential sanctions relief for Iran. Rubio and colleagues introduced a bill calling for President Joe Biden to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome missiles. He and his colleagues also introduced a resolution standing with Israel and condemning the attacks by Hamas.
Joining Rubio and Cruz in introducing this resolution were Senators Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Barrasso (R-WY), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Tom Cotton (R-AR), and Rick Scott (R-FL).
Rubio is Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
