Rubio, Giménez, Colleagues Introduce Bill to Keep Airports Secure From State Sponsors of Terrorism

Jun 5, 2024 | Press Releases

Last month, a delegation of the criminal and illegitimate Cuban regime toured Transportation Security Administration (TSA) facilities, including secure areas not open to the public, at Miami International Airport (MIA).

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), U.S. Representative Carlos Giménez (R-FL), and colleagues introduced the Secure Airports From Enemies (SAFE) Act to restrict State Sponsors of Terrorism, which includes Cuba, from accessing TSA areas.

  • “It’s absurd America has hosted officials from nations currently designated as State Sponsors of Terrorism. We must ensure this administration is not enabling foreign operatives to learn of our aviation security measures aimed at keeping Americans safe.” – Senator Rubio
  • “President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas granted agents of the Castro regime access to our sensitive TSA facilities at Miami International Airport. This pathetic and dangerous decision undermines our national security and puts passengers in serious risk. I’m proud to introduce the bipartisan SAFE Act in the House of Representatives and work alongside my dear friend, Senator Marco Rubio, championing this effort in the Upper Chamber, to make sure this never happens again.” – Congressman Giménez

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and Representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), and María Elvira Salazar (R-FL), are also original cosponsors.

  • “What the Biden administration allowed to happen at Miami International Airport (MIA) is absolutely insane. Everything this administration does puts America at risk and it must end. I’m proud to join my colleagues in introducing the SAFE Act to keep State Sponsors of Terrorism, like the illegitimate, communist Cuban regime, out of secure TSA areas. This is common sense but necessary to keep the lawless, appeasement-obsessed Biden administration from putting Americans at further risk. The House and Senate should pass this bill ASAP.” – Senator Scott

Flashback … Rubio, Giménez, and colleagues sent a letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and TSA Administrator David Pekoske regarding this serious national threat.
