Hard-working families in Florida and across the nation owe Senator Rubio a debt of gratitude for his efforts on their behalf.”
Washington, D.C. – The National Taxpayers Union (NTU), a 362,000-member, nonpartisan citizen group, announced today that U.S. Senator Marco Rubio has been awarded the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” for championing tax relief policies in the first session of the 112th Congress. NTU’s scoring analysis is based on every roll call vote affecting fiscal policy.
“With all the challenges facing our economy, fiscal discipline in Washington, DC has never been more important,” NTU President Duane Parde said. “Fortunately, Florida residents could count on Senator Rubio, to whom National Taxpayers Union is proud to present a ‘Taxpayers’ Friend Award.’”
“If every Member of Congress were as principled as Senator Rubio, current and future generations of Americans could enjoy much lower taxes and a less wasteful government,” Parde continued. “Hard-working families in Florida and across the nation owe Senator Rubio a debt of gratitude for his efforts on their behalf. Senator Rubio has truly earned the title ‘Taxpayers’ Friend.’”
Following this announcement, Rubio said, “I made a promise to the people of Florida that I would stand up to Washington’s reckless spending and its assault on the free enterprise system. I’m pleased that groups entrusted with holding me and my colleagues accountable are validating my continuing fulfillment of those promises.”
