Nov 16, 2016 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement congratulating Miami Dade College President Eduardo Padrón, who will be awarded with the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, on November 22:

“As President of Miami Dade College for over 20 years, Eduardo Padrón has helped countless Americans receive a quality education. Because of Dr. Padrón’s leadership, Miami Dade College now enrolls and graduates more minority students than any other institution in America, and his efforts to help students achieve their own American Dream are well deserving of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

“Dr. Padrón and Miami Dade College are true education innovators who have given the rest of the country a model for how our higher education institutions must adapt to be responsive to students and meet the changing nature of our 21st century economy. I congratulate Dr. Padrón on this tremendous honor and thank him for his decades of service and dedication to the Miami community, our state and our nation.”
