Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement today regarding the death of Tyndall Air Force Base pilot Matthew LaCourse, a retired Lieutenant Colonel and Air Force Academy graduate:
“I was saddened to learn that one of our brave aviators lost his life. My thoughts and prayers are with Matthew LaCourse, his family, and the Tyndall Air Force Base community. I’ve had the honor of visiting Tyndall Air Force Base and meeting with many of the men and women stationed there, and I have found that each one of them serves as a tribute to the courage, dedication and skill of our Air Force. Their loss today is a reminder of the risks they take each day, in peacetime as well as during war, to defend the freedoms we hold dear.
“As we prepare to mark Veteran’s Day next week, let us remember the sacrifice Matthew LaCourse made on our behalf, and the men and women in uniform who put their lives at risk every day and in every mission. We are truly indebted to them.”
