Rubio Comments on Recent Travel Restrictions to Cuba
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after the Trump Administration restricted flights to Cuba, with the exception of Havana:
“The recent action by the Trump administration to suspend commercial flights to Cuba, with the exception of Havana, is yet another example of President Trump’s commitment of exerting maximum pressure against the Cuban regime. Unlike the previous administration, which opened the door for military-controlled GAESA and the regime to enrich themselves, this administration is siding with the Cuban people and prioritizing democratic values and human rights in Cuba. It’s ludicrous, but not surprising, that the Cuban regime says the U.S. doesn’t care about impacting Cuban families when puppet Díaz-Canel is Cuba’s oppressor-in-chief.”
Rubio is the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.
