Rubio Comments On British National Election
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement regarding the national election in the United Kingdom:
“The United States and the United Kingdom share a common history and immutable bonds of culture and language, but most importantly we are bound together as people who value our freedom. It is always heartening to see a competitive campaign come to a close and citizens going to the polls to choose their country’s leaders.
“The British people have spoken, and my wife Jeanette and I congratulate Prime Minister David Cameron on the Conservatives’ victory. I look forward to continuing to work with Prime Minister Cameron’s government in the years ahead as we tackle problems around the globe, especially in the Middle East and with Russia’s continued aggression in Ukraine.
“We have immense challenges ahead of us, but even greater opportunities to continue to deepen our ties, especially in the economic realm, as we continue to uphold the grand tradition of partnership between the United States and our allies across the Atlantic.”
