Rubio Commends Ambassador Haley’s Vote Against Ending Cuba Embargo

Nov 1, 2017 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today released the following statement after U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (U.N.) Nikki Haley voted against the U.N. General Assembly’s resolution calling for an end to the U.S. embargo against Cuba:

“I commend Ambassador Haley for voting against the U.N. General Assembly’s resolution calling for an end to the U.S. embargo against Cuba. While this resolution is only symbolic, the United States has once again sent a clear and unequivocal message to the Cuban people: we are on your side. Despite the Obama Administration’s unilateral concessions to the Castro regime, I remain hopeful that the Trump Administration’s new policy toward Cuba will empower the Cuban people, and bring them closer to freedom and democracy. Ambassador Haley’s vote today is one more step in that direction.”
