Rubio Calls on House Democrats to Stop Playing Politics, Address Humanitarian Crisis on Southern Border

Jun 26, 2019 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) called on Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats to take meaningful action after the Senate passed a bipartisan humanitarian supplemental appropriations bill to address the crisis on the southern border in a 84-8 vote. Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed a partisan bill that the administration had already said the President would not sign into law.

“Congress can no longer deny that this is a crisis, and I commend my Senate colleagues for taking meaningful action,” Rubio said. “Unfortunately, House Democrats continue to pursue their partisan agenda, passing a bill that has no chance of becoming law. If Speaker Pelosi wants to address the humanitarian crisis on our southern border with the seriousness it deserves, she will put the bipartisan Senate bill on the House floor without delay.”

Last week, Rubio released a video highlighting the need for Congress to act to address the humanitarian crisis on the southern border.
