Rubio Applauds Senate Confirmation of FEMA Administrator

Jan 14, 2020 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) applauded today’s Senate confirmation of Peter Gaynor to be Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Rubio also released a video message on the confirmation vote. Broadcast quality video can be found here.

“Given recent events in Florida with hurricanes and earthquakes in Puerto Rico, it is critical that we have a Senate-confirmed FEMA administrator,” Rubio said. “Most recently, Acting Administrator Gaynor oversaw Hurricane Dorian and continues to proactively work with local officials to make sure communities are prepared for natural disasters. Importantly, I believe Acting Administrator Gaynor will ensure FEMA transforms into a 21st century disaster response agency, and I am pleased the Senate took action on his nomination before the start of the 2020 hurricane season.”
