Rubio Applauds Funding for Bay County Students
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) praised the news that the Department of Education approved a $1.2 million Project SERV (School Emergency Response to Violence) grant for Bay County. The grant can be used for mental health services to address the lasting mental health impact Hurricane Michael has had on students, as well as overtime for teachers and counselors, transportation, and other costs to operate the school at an alternate site. Last October, Senator Rubio urged Secretary Betsy DeVos to approve these funds without delay.
“Hurricane Michael’s damage had a tremendous impact on schools in the Florida Panhandle, which is why I asked Secretary DeVos to quickly approve these Project SERV applications,” Rubio said. “I applaud Secretary DeVos for getting these much needed funds to Bay County so that students can get the help they need as they and their families continue to rebuild from this terrible tragedy.”
