Rubio Applauds Additional Sanctions on Maduro Cronies

Nov 9, 2017 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement today applauding the U.S. Treasury Department’s announcement that it will impose additional sanctions against Maduro regime officials in Venezuela:

“Every day, the Maduro regime in Venezuela looks and acts more like the dictatorial Castro regime in Cuba. The illegitimate Constituent Assembly’s recent crackdown on news media and the baseless charges against the elected Vice President of the National Assembly, Freddy Guevara, are the latest efforts by Maduro and his cronies to undermine democracy and the will of the Venezuelan people. As part of continuing efforts to assist the Venezuelan people in restoring democracy, the rule of law, and their rights, I welcome the Trump Administration’s announcement today to impose new sanctions against corrupt Venezuelans.”
