Rubio Applauds Action on Disaster Funding to Help Local Communities Still Struggling to Recover

Mar 26, 2019 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) welcomed Senate action on a disaster supplemental aid package to provide funding to local communities still struggling to recover from recent natural disasters, including Florida’s panhandle that was devastated by Hurricane Michael in October 2018. The Senate voted 90-10 to proceed to the disaster supplemental. A summary of the measure can be found here.

“It is long overdue for Congress to help our local communities still struggling to recover from recent disasters, including Florida’s panhandle that was devastated by Hurricane Michael more than five months ago,” Rubio said. “With each passing day, our local communities are increasingly strained for the necessary resources required to address critical issues and fully recover from these disasters. It is time to send the president a disaster supplemental that will help us continue on the path to full recovery.”
