Rubio, Cramer, Colleagues Introduce Unborn Child Support Act

Jul 14, 2022 | Press Releases

U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Kevin Cramer (R-ND) introduced the Unborn Child Support Act to give mothers the ability to receive child support payments while they are pregnant.

  • “We should do everything we can to support American mothers and their children. This bill would allow expecting mothers to prepare and support their babies before they are born.” – Senator Rubio
  • “Caring for the well-being of our children begins long before a baby is born. It begins at the first moment of life – conception – and fathers have obligations, financial and otherwise, during pregnancy. Mothers should be able to access child support payments as soon as she is supporting a child. Our bill makes this possible.” – Senator Cramer

Senators Steve Daines (R-MT), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Rick Scott (R-FL), Roger Marshall (R-KS), James Lankford (R-OK), and Roger Wicker (R-MS) are also cosponsors. U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA) introduced companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives.
