In Weekly Video Series, Senator Rubio Helps Boy Scouts Earn Merit Badges
Washington, D.C. – In today’s sixth installment of Marco’s Constituent Mail Box video series, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio responds to letters from Boy Scouts in Florida working to earn their “Citizenship in the Nation” merit badge on their way to earning the highest rank in the Boy Scouts, Eagle Scout.
To earn this merit badge, each Scout must complete a series of requirements while they learn “how to become active citizens [that] are aware of and grateful for their liberties and rights, [that] participate in their governments and protect their freedom, [that] defend their country and [stand] up for individual rights on behalf of all its citizens.” The final requirement is to write a letter to a senator or Member of Congress. Senator Rubio answered three of these letters in this week’s Constituent Mail Box.
The first email came from Sean, a member of Troop 40 in Atlantic Beach. Sean was concerned about cutting the military budget. The second email came from Chris, a member of Troop 840 in Pinecrest in Miami-Dade County. Chris shared his ideas to help restart the economy. The third was a letter from 13 year-old Joe, a member of Troop 567 in Vero Beach. Joe suggested adding an NFL team in Orlando.
