PHOTOS: Rubio Visits FIU Bridge Collapse Survivors at Kendall Regional Medical Center
Miami, FL – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Mrs. Jeanette Rubio today visited survivors of the FIU bridge accident at Kendall Regional Medical Center and thanked the doctors, nurses, and others for their efforts.
After yesterday’s tragic pedestrian bridge collapse, Rubio called on the Department of Transportation (DOT) to address the “bridge’s design, construction, and ultimate failure” while it conducts its investigation. Last night, Rubio also spoke at a press conference with state, local officials and law enforcement.
“Yesterday’s accident was a horrifying tragedy for the FIU community. This is the neighborhood Jeanette and I grew up in, and it hits close to home. We had the opportunity today to meet with survivors at Kendall Regional Medical Center and assure them of my office’s full support as they recover. We are grateful to the doctors, nurses, staff, and first responders for their efforts to tend to the injured. My office and I remain committed to doing everything possible to ensure this never happens again.”
