PHOTOS: Rubio Tours Canal Debris & Fishermen’s Community Hospital, Hosts Post-Irma Roundtable in Marathon

Marathon, FL—U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today toured canal debris, hosted a roundtable discussion in Marathon, and assessed damage at Fishermen’s Community Hospital.

“Today’s tours and roundtable meeting with Marathon officials were productive as we discussed continued hurricane recovery efforts and challenges such as debris clean up and affordable housing for displaced hurricane victims,” said Rubio. “Florida is still recovering, and in need of disaster aid that the Congress appropriated in February. I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure this funding reaches the state and hurricane victims.”

This morning, Rubio joined Bill Becker on the Florida Keys’ US 1 Radio to discuss today’s roundtable, affordable housing and FEMA reimbursements for hurricane victims.

In the disaster supplemental passed by Congress in February, Rubio successfully pushed for funding to help Monroe County with its substantial debris cleanup work. Rubio also successfully asked FEMA on numerous instances for extended shelter assistance to help the county’s displaced hurricane victims and helped to lead recovery efforts in the immediate aftermath of the storm.
