“The main takeaway from the deep dive into Marco’s religion is that this is a man who has thought a lot about his faith and is very religious. His faith journey is a powerful American story, that includes him leading his family back to the Catholic church when he was only 11, contributing money to church even when his personal finances were tight, and now regularly going to two churches (Catholic in DC and Miami, and Baptist in Miami, where his family enjoys the sermons).”

“In the 2000 Florida House Clerk’s Manual, Rubio described himself as Catholic. “Mr. Rubio’s spiritual life is complicated. In 2002, he and his wife began regularly attending a Baptist church. Three years later he was back to his Catholic roots. Mr. Rubio’s Mormon years are not a topic that he has brought up on the campaign trail, but he is not trying to hide them, Mr. Conant said. Mr. Rubio used that part of his past in his pitch to his publisher and intended to reveal it in October when the memoir is set to be published.”
