Happy Fourth of July!
This Independence Day, I want to wish a safe and happy 4th of July to all Americans, especially the Floridians I have the honor of representing in Washington.
Many of you may be getting ready to enjoy time away from work with family and friends, maybe a vacation or barbecue. I hope you enjoy it.
This holiday is a special time to stop and remember how special our country is. The United States was founded on a simple idea: our rights come from God and our government’s job is to protect those rights. This founding principle sets us apart from the rest of the world. For over 230 years, America has protected those rights better than any other government in human history and our nation continues to serve as a force of good and an example that self-government is possible.
It’s also a time when we can look forward. As we celebrate with our families and friends, we should all be excited about building a new future for our nation, one better than our past. I hope we can continue to work on the important issues facing our nation and our people, so the 21st century will be another American Century.
May God bless you and your families on this Independence Day, may God bless the state of Florida, and may God always bless the United States of America.
