Panama City, FL – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues, released the following statement after President Trump recognized Juan Guaidó as Provisional President of Venezuela:
“I thank President Trump for today officially recognizing the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, as the Provisional President of Venezuela. During our various conversations on Venezuela the President has made it clear that he will use the full weight of the United States to press for the restoration of democracy and constitutional legitimacy in Venezuela. I also know the President will hold the illegitimate Maduro regime directly responsible for any actions taken against President Guaidó, members of the National Assembly, and peaceful protestors.”
Rubio’s Actions in Support of the Venezuela’s National Assembly and Provisional President Juan Guaidó:

“Agradezco al presidente Trump por hoy reconocer oficialmente al presidente de la Asamblea Nacional de Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, como presidente provisional de Venezuela. Durante nuestras conversaciones sobre Venezuela, el Presidente ha dejado en claro que utilizará todo el peso de los Estados Unidos para presionar por el restablecimiento de la democracia y la legitimidad constitucional en Venezuela. También sé que el Presidente responsabilizará directamente al régimen ilegítimo de Maduro por cualquier acción tomada contra el Presidente Guaidó, los miembros de la Asamblea Nacional y los manifestantes quienes marchan pacíficamente “.
