English/ Español: Rubio Welcomes Updates To Cuba’s Restricted List and Designation Against Illegitimate Cuban Minister

Nov 19, 2019 | Press Releases

Miami, FL – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued a statement after the U.S. State Department updated the Cuba Restricted List and after it imposed visa ban sanctions, pursuant to Section 7031(c) of the Fiscal Year 2019 Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Act, against Julio César Gandarilla Bermejo, Cuba’s illegitimate Interior Minister (MININT):

“The Trump administration’s decision to add five additional entities owned by Cuba’s GAESA to the restricted list and its decision to sanction the regime’s illegitimate Interior Minister, is yet another measure to exert maximum pressure against companies and thugs who are benefiting at the expense of repression and violation of human rights in Cuba. As members of the Cuban regime continue to partake in repressing Cuban and Venezuelan nationals, we have a moral duty to hold them accountable.”

Rubio is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.
