English/Español: Rubio Welcomes Sanctions Against Entities Transporting Venezuelan Oil to Cuba
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), pursuant to Executive Order 13850, imposed sanctions against four entities that operate in the Venezuelan oil sector and four vessels that transport oil from Venezuela to Cuba:
“The pressure from the United States against Nicolás Maduro and his enablers must continue. I strongly support the Trump administration’s efforts to hold accountable entities who are providing a lifeline to the illegitimate regimes in Venezuela and Cuba. We must use all tools available under U.S. law to counter despotic regimes in our hemisphere that continue to erode democracy and human rights in the region as well as undermine the security and stability of our hemisphere.”
Rubio is the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.
Washington, D.C.— El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) emitió una declaración después que la Oficina de Control de Activos Extranjeros (OFAC) del Departamento del Tesoro de los Estados Unidos, en conformidad con la Orden Ejecutiva 13850, impuso sanciones contra cuatro entidades que operan en el sector petrolero venezolano y cuatro embarcaciones que transportan petróleo desde Venezuela a Cuba:
“La presión de EE.UU. contra Nicolás Maduro y sus secuaces debe continuar. Apoyo los esfuerzos de la administración Trump para responsabilizar a las entidades que brindan una ayuda a los regímenes ilegítimos en Venezuela y Cuba. Debemos usar todas las herramientas disponibles bajo la ley de EE. UU. para contrarrestar a estos regímenes despóticos que continúan erosionando la democracia y los derechos humanos en la región y socavan la seguridad y estabilidad de nuestro hemisferio ”.
Rubio es el Presidente del Subcomité de Relaciones Exteriores para el Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Globales de la Mujer.
