Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) Board of Governors elected Mauricio Claver-Carone to serve as the next IDB President for the next five years:
“The election of Mauricio Claver-Carone as the next president of the IDB comes at a crucial time when our hemisphere is in need of bold leadership. As Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the U.S. National Security Council, Claver-Carone faithfully served our nation with the highest respect and integrity as he advanced policies that promoted our interests and supported our allies in ensuring regional stability. I have no doubt he will continue to work tirelessly to promote economic development and prosperity in Latin America.”
Rubio is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues. He is currently Acting Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

RUBIO APLAUDE ELECCIÓN DE MAURICIO CLAVER-CARONE COMO PRESIDENTE DEL BANCO INTERAMERICANO DE DESARROLLO (BID)
Washington, DC — El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) emitió el siguiente comunicado luego que la Asamblea de Gobernadores del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) eligiera a Mauricio Claver-Carone como su próximo presidente por los próximos cinco años:
“La elección de Mauricio Claver-Carone como próximo presidente del BID llega en un momento crucial en el que nuestro hemisferio necesita un líder audaz. Como Director de Asuntos del Hemisferio Occidental en el Consejo de Seguridad Nacional de EE.UU., Claver-Carone sirvió fielmente a nuestra nación con la mayor integridad y respeto mientras que avanzaba políticas que promovían nuestros intereses y apoyaban a nuestros aliados para garantizar la estabilidad regional. No tengo duda que Claver-Carone trabajará incansablemente para continuar promoviendo el desarrollo económico y la prosperidad en Latinoamérica”.
Rubio es el Presidente del Subcomité de Relaciones Exteriores para el Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Globales de la Mujer. Actualmente Rubio es el presidente interino del Comité Selecto de Inteligencia del Senado.
