President Joe Biden named Markenzy Lapointe to be U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida and Roger Handberg to be U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida.
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) signaled his support for Lapointe in February 2021. Both Lapointe and Handberg were recommended by Rubio’s bipartisan judicial advisory commission.
- “The president made the right decision by naming Markenzy Lapointe and Roger Handberg to these important positions. They have served their communities and country with distinction, and I expect both will respect the Constitution and uphold the rule of law without fear or favor.” – Senator Rubio
The nominees must now be approved by the U.S. Senate.
