Miami, FL — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a statement marking the day former Marxist dictator Fidel Castro began his illegitimate Communist revolution, which started with a failed assault against an army barracks in Santiago de Cuba on July 26, 1953. Now, following the historic anti-Communist regime protests across the island, the month of July represents a beacon of hope for the people of Cuba after 62 years of tyranny and oppression.
“For most Cubans, including those in exile, July 26 marks the beginning of the darkest period in modern Cuban history,” Rubio said. “But while July once marked the downfall of the island’s democracy, this month now represents a beacon of hope. The Cuban people are no longer afraid of the Marxist dictatorship that has stolen their future and freedom for over six decades. The darkness of the July 26th Movement is now overshadowed by the courage the world saw from the Cuban people on July 11th.”

Ahora, tras las históricas protestas del pueblo cubano en toda la isla contra el régimen comunista, el mes de julio se ha transformado en una luz de esperanza para el pueblo de Cuba tras 62 años de tiranía y opresión.
“Para la mayoría de los cubanos, incluyendo los que viven en el exilio, el 26 de julio marca el comienzo del período más oscuro en la historia moderna de Cuba”, Rubio dijo. “Pero, aunque el mes de julio una vez marcó la caída de la democracia en la isla, este mes ahora representa un rayo de esperanza.
