Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today issued the following statement following National Security Advisor John Bolton speech in Miami’s historic Biltmore Hotel announcing additional sanctions against the regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua:
“Today’s actions by the Trump administration against the ‘Troika of Tyranny’ are significant and reaffirm our nation’s commitment to democracy and human rights in Latin America. The United States is sending a clear message that there is no room for despots in our hemisphere. I applaud the administration’s bold actions during the Brigade 2506 event and look forward to working with them to advance freedom and prosperity in the Western Hemisphere.”
Rubio is the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.

“Las acciones de hoy por parte de la administración Trump contra la ‘Troika de la Tiranía’ son significativas y reafirman el compromiso de nuestra nación con la democracia y los derechos humanos en Latinoamérica. Estados Unidos está enviando un mensaje claro, no hay espacio para déspotas en nuestro hemisferio. Aplaudo las acciones del gobierno durante el evento de la Brigada 2506 y espero seguir trabajando con ellos para promover la libertad y la prosperidad en el hemisferio occidental”.
