Rubio Joins The Ingraham Angle
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) joined The Ingraham Angle to discuss potential foreign involvement in the assassination attempts on President Trump. See below for highlights.
On the involvement of foreign actors in assassination attempts on American political figures:
“I don’t think, when you’re investigating something like [the assassination attempts on Donald Trump], you can rule anything out. I don’t think you can determine it until you have all the evidence, but you can’t rule it out.
“Iran has said openly that they intend to assassinate Mike Pompeo, Donald Trump, and maybe a couple of other people in revenge for Soleimani. We know that as a fact. They have said it. We’ve had people arrested for plotting that here in the United States. By the way, they’re not going to do it by sending some Iranian person to do it here. They’re going to hire some criminal organization, or maybe they’re going to hire someone who doesn’t even know who’s paying them. They’ll say: ‘This person is a whack job. If we pay him enough money, we can stir him up to do something like that.’
“I’m not claiming that’s what happened here. I’m just saying none of these things can be ruled out until we know that definitively. And we may not know right away. What we do know is that there is a nation-state that wants to take [Donald Trump’s] life. And yet, the Biden Administration has been negotiating with [Iran] over a nuclear deal up until very recently, even in the midst of all of this. That’s the moment you get up and walk away and say: ‘We’re not dealing with you guys. You’re trying to assassinate Americans in America.’
“Add to that, if you know that risk [to Donald Trump] exists, the security can’t just be the security of a presidential candidate. It has to be the security of a presidential candidate that has been demonized by his political opponents, called a ‘Hitler,’ called the ‘American dictator,’ but also has a nation-state that is actively trying to assassinate him as soon as they can. That’s the kind of security profile that person has to have.”
On the Iranian regime’s hostility towards Donald Trump:
“The Iranian regime does not want Donald Trump to be president, and they don’t want him alive. Those two things are true. Anytime someone goes after him, we have to assume they’re behind something.”
