U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) continues to make the case for permanent DST. He recently reintroduced his bipartisan legislation to lock the clock. The bill passed the Senate unanimously last year.

“We’re one of the few countries on Earth that continues to do this ritual of springing forward and falling back and changing our clock twice a year.
“That makes no sense. It’s time to end it. I think we should pick one and stick with it.
“I think Daylight Saving is the one, for a lot of reasons. It’s something the Florida legislature’s asked for, and that’s what I’m going to try to do here again.”

El domingo por la mañana, los estadounidenses volverán a cambiar sus relojes, pasando del horario estándar al horario de verano (DST, por sus siglas en inglés).
El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) continúa abogando por el horario de verano permanente. Recientemente volvió a presentar su legislación bipartidista que busca poner fin a la práctica anticuada del cambio anual de la hora. El proyecto de ley fue aprobado por unanimidad en el senado de EE.UU. el año pasado.

“Somos uno de los pocos países en el mundo que hace esta práctica cada dos veces al año de cambiar la hora.
“Creo que debemos parar de hacer eso. Debemos escoger una hora y quedarnos con eso. El año entero. Y pienso que debe ser la hora que vamos a empezar en unos días para que haya más horas de luz por las tardes.
“Creo que tiene beneficios para nuestras comunidades, para el turismo y para nuestros niños también”.
