VIDEO: Rubio Delivers Remarks at St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s Senate Briefing on Pediatric Cancer
Washington, D.C. –U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) delivered remarks today at the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s briefing on Capitol Hill. Rubio and Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) served as honorary Congressional hosts for a variety of panels discussing advances in immunotherapy and pediatric oncology research, and the challenges and opportunities in drug development and treatment.
“I’m grateful for the work of St. Baldrick’s Foundation to give pediatric cancer research the attention it needs. Along with the RACE for Children Act, advances in medical technology will accelerate new, innovative treatments for childhood cancer,” said Rubio. “We must continue to work together to ensure children are not left out of 21st century research and medicine.”
In August, the Senate passed the Research to Accelerate Cures and Equity (RACE) for Children Act, which will provide children battling cancer with more innovative and promising treatment options. Rubio and Bennet introduced the legislation earlier this year and it was signed into law by President Trump in August.
