Sponsored, Co-Sponsored Legislation
Senator Rubio signed on as an original co-sponsor of S.2233 which would stimulate international tourism to the United States.
Rubio also signed on as an original co-sponsor of S.2234. After signing onto the End Trafficking in Government Contracting Act of 2012, Rubio said “Every day, real people are living in the modern day slavery of the human trafficking trade, with some operations actually funded by taxpayer dollars. This bill will help crack down on this dehumanizing practice, particularly in government contracting labor operations, and I am proud to support it as one more step we can do to punish human rights abuses.”
Rubio also signed onto S.2165, which would strengthen the United States’ relationship with Israel.
Rubio signed onto the Death Tax Repeal Permanency Act. This bill has already earned praise from the Florida Executive Director of the National Federation of Independent Business and Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Coast Chapter. When signing onto this legislation, Rubio said, “Under no circumstances should death be a taxable event, and I look forward to working to enact the Death Tax Repeal Permanency Act to make sure that this is the case.”
Rubio is an original co-sponsor of The TAP Modernization Act of 2012. This bill will require the Secretary of Labor to provide the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) under title 10, U.S.C., section 1144 (10 U.S.C. 1144) “to eligible individuals at locations other than military installations in not less than three and not more than five States selected by the Secretary” during the three year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this bill. This program would be a pilot program for a few states with the highest level of veteran unemployment to evaluate the results before taking the program to a national level. After signing onto this legislation, Rubio said “We should do everything possible to honor the men and women who have served our country. This legislation not only honors our veterans, but also their families who sacrifice so much when they are overseas. I am proud to work with Senators Boozman and Begich to ensure our veterans and military families are helped with job training as they transition into civilian life.”
Rubio is also an original co-sponsor of Senator John Barrasso’s S.2245 or the Preserve the Waters of the U.S. Act. This bill preserves existing rights and responsibilities with respect to waters of the United States.
