Senator Rubio Comments On Mexico’s Presidential Election
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), the ranking member of the Senate’s Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Peace Corps and Global Narcotics Affairs, spoke with Mexico’s President-elect Enrique Peña Nieto about his victory and issued the following statement regarding Mexico’s presidential election:
“This afternoon I congratulated President-elect Enrique Peña Nieto on his election to serve as the next President of Mexico. I also commended the people of Mexico, as well as the government of President Calderón, for demonstrating their democratic commitment by conducting free and fair elections. This is a historic opportunity for Mexico, as it has undergone a remarkable economic and political transformation in the last two decades.
