“Naval Station Mayport is a vital component of America’s national security infrastructure, and today’s announcement of new Navy ships being assigned to Northeast Florida is an encouraging development.
“While the homeporting of an Amphibious Ready Group is welcome news, unfortunately it is also a reminder of the Obama Administration’s misguided decision to cancel all funding in support of homeporting a nuclear powered aircraft carrier in Mayport in accordance with the Navy’s stated requirement and the Quadrennial Defense Review.”
